Hout Bay man beaten to death

Cape Town - A 23-year-old man was beaten to death, allegedly by two burglars, at his father's house in Saddlers Close, Hout Bay on Friday, police said.

Warrant Officer Tanya Lesch said Conrad Griss was attacked inside the house around 02:00.

"According to the father, he was woken up by dogs barking and his son's call for help," said Lesch.

"When his father came to investigate, he saw his son holding his face, covered in blood."

Lesch said Griss apparently approached the two burglars with a pellet gun when they attacked him with a hammer. Griss' father said he saw two unidentified men fleeing through the window of the guest room.

It was not known yet how they got into the house or whether anything was taken from the house.

Paramedics attended to Griss, but he later died on the scene, said Lesch.
