Johannesburg - The mother of murdered Roodepoort schoolgirl Louise de Waal has tearfully described her daughter as an "angel".
Shireen de Waal also speculated to Beeld about her daughter's modelling pictures, saying she wondered if she had posted them on social networking site Facebook, and whether her attacker may have targeted her after seeing the photographs.
Louise’s father, Lourens, currently living in Cape Town, reportedly burst into tears when he heard his daughter had been kidnapped.
"Louise was never violent, she never felt hatred for anyone, she's my angel. I truly believe she's a spirited child who God has touched," Shireen de Waal told The Star.
Gauteng police will hold a media briefing on Thursday morning amid unconfirmed reports that a man has been arrested for the murder.
Police were still waiting for DNA results to confirm that a burnt body, found on a farm in Magaliesburg on Wednesday afternoon, was De Waal's. Her family was however widely quoted in the media on Thursday as saying the 17-year-old Horskool Die Burger pupil's body had been identified by a belly ring and earrings.
According to The Times, Missing Children SA updated its website about De Waal's abduction, saying "Found deceased".
