MPs vote in favour of info bill

Cape Town - MPs voted in favour of the protection of state information bill (POIB) on Tuesday.

A total of 229 MPs voted in favour of the bill, and 107 against. There were two abstentions.

The various political parties are making declarations on the bill before a final decision is taken to pass it.

The bill came before the National Assembly in Cape Town, as protests against the bill took place in Johannesburg, Pretoria, Durban and the Mother City.
