This is exactly what has happened in Limpopo, claims Premier Sello Moloto's spokesperson.
Why? "Because he can't know everything," said Lucky Nchabeleng.
This comes after Moloto on Sunday night referred to Morebeng (Soekmekaar) as the birthplace of the Tourism Minister Marthinus van Schalkwyk.
He had been speaking at a gala dinner in the town on the eve of World Tourism Day celebrations.
Moloto said that everyone who had their roots in Limpopo should return.
"Also, those who were born in Soekmekaar. Or has its name changed? No, it's still Soekmekaar," he said.
Morebeng was one of many towns that underwent a name change because they carried colonial or apartheid connotations.
Nchabeleng, admitted Moloto had made a faux pas, but said he would ensure the premier learnt the new name.
