Judge King Ndlovu handed him 13 life sentences - for each of the 13 women he killed, plus a further 208 years - 16 years each, for the armed robbery of the 16 women.
Ndlovu commended the investigating team's excellent work. He also praised the cellphone experts who gave evidence.
The sentence was welcomed with jubilation from the public gallery. Family members of the victims cried and sang. Others hugged State Advocate Noxolo Tokwana and praised her work.
The sentencing was adjourned for 15 minutes. Taki's lawyer Thumani Shange was taking further instruction from the accused.
He was found guilty on December 23.
