Johannesburg - A Johannesburg teacher was fired last week after allegedly raping a female pupil, according to a report on Friday.
The man lured the 12-year-old girl to his car and drugged her before raping her, The Times reported.
This was according to Wits law professor Bonita Meyersfeld, who told the story to pupils of Roedean School on Thursday.
Meyersfeld, who works closely with Lawyers Against Abuse, said six lawyers took six months to help the child because police closed the case, as the rape was only reported months after the event.
After the intervention of Lawyers Against Abuse, the teacher was fired.
The non-governmental organisation offered legal help to rape survivors who could not afford to hire lawyers.
