Teen axe suspect 'drank baby's blood'

Johannesburg - It is alleged that the 14-year-old boy who murdered four family members with an axe took the body of his 3-month-old baby sister to the veld and drank her blood.

The boy has been accused of hacking his mother, grandmother, baby sister and 7-year-old brother to death in their home in Etwatwa in Benoni, reported Beeld.

There have been rumours that the murders were carried out as part of a Satanic ritual.

The boy apparently lit candles on Thursday night before attacking his family.

His mother’s body was found in the shack and the body of his baby sister was found in the veld. His grandmother and brother later died in hospital. A sister and cousin (both aged 8) were able to get away and find help.

According to a community member, a school book belonging to the boy contained signs like a seven-pointed star and the numbers 666.

They boy apparently told community members shortly before his arrest that he was part of a Satanic cult in Daveyton and that one of the tests that he had to do to be part of the church was to murder his family. He would apparently then get R100 000 for this.

He was also supposed to drink the blood of his mother and the other victims, but the escape of the young girls spoiled his plans and this was why he had to take the body of his sister to the veld where he drank the blood before dumping the body.

Grandfather devastated

Meanwhile, the boy’s grandfather was said to be devastated by the attack on his family, reported Eyewitness News.

The man, who was not identified, was apparently sleeping at the time of the attack but was woken up by a brick coming through the bedroom window. When he got up to investigate, he found his wife lying on the floor.

He then found his daughter’s body under a tree and his grandson, still alive and bleeding.

“I am not okay, I am broken. I am now all alone,” the man told reporters.

The boy is expected to appear in court on Thursday.
