Tumble dryer baby: Woman held

London – A woman has been arrested following the death of a four-year-old boy whose body was found in a tumble dryer in a house in Derbyshire, police said on Wednesday.

Sonny Gibson was found at his home in Ashbourne on July 26, shortly after he was reported missing.

"A 41-year-old woman was arrested on Friday July 30, on suspicion of child neglect," a police spokesperson said. The woman, said in media reports to be the boy's mother, has been released on police bail to a later date.

Officers investigating the incident have passed the results of a post mortem to the coroner, but have not yet made public the cause of death.
