Zim players killed in crash

Johannesburg - Creative Zimbabwean international midfielder Blessing Makunike is one of the three top players killed in a car accident in Bulawayo on Sunday.

South African football lovers will remember Makunike for creating a goal which resulted in Zimbabwe beating Bafana Bafana 1-0 during the Cosafa Castle Cup in Port Elizabeth three years ago.

Makunike and two others CAPS United players Shingirai Alron and Garry Mashoko were returning from a league match. Two supporters were also reported to have died in the accident.

United won the match 2-1.

"I'm told Blessing scored one of the two goals, I'm on my way to Zimbabwe for the burial arrangements," said Blessing's brother Simba Makunike, a journalist based in Johannesburg on Monday night.
