Body of missing 5-year-old boy found near Tzaneen

The body of a five-year-old boy was discovered in surrounding bushes by a passerby near Tzaneen on Thursday, Limpopo police say.

Khaya Restoration Rikhotso was last seen playing in the yard of his family home in Hoveni Village on Thursday last week.

When his grandmother checked on him, he was nowhere to be found, police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Moatshe Ngoepe said.

"The circumstances around the victim’s death are subject to ongoing police investigations."

An inquest docket has been opened for further investigations.

Police urged members of the public with information regarding the incident to contact Colonel Cecil Machimane on 082 451 7181.
