On Wednesday, Nthite said a series of seismic events occurred at the mine in the early hours of Saturday, resulting in the death of a miner. The man was a winch operator, he said.
Nthite said a miner who was injured was still in a stable condition in hospital.
He said safe start-up procedures were underway at the section where the miners were trapped.
"We will remain close to the two families to assist them through this difficult period and beyond," he said.
