The Marlin Street sinkhole has been repaired following its formation on Thursday 21 November.
Felicity Purchase, Mayco member for transport, says the sinkhole was caused by a broken sewer pipe.
A truck had become stuck in the knee-deep sinkhole around 06:00 on Friday 22 November and the road had to be closed for the repairs.
The road is built on a sand dune and is not the first sinkhole to form in the area.
According to Purchase, another sinkhole had formed in Korvette Road as a result of a damaged stormwater pipe.
The pipe and sinkhole were repaired on Friday 22 November.
While the road was closed to traffic for several hours during the repairs, it did not have an impact on traffic, which had been re-routed.
No injuries were reported as a result of the sinkhole.
