Cabinet reshuffle rumours a lie – Presidency

Johannesburg - The Presidency has denied any knowledge of a list of names rumoured to be those of new ministers to be appointed in a Cabinet reshuffle.

In a short statement, its spokesperson Bongani Ngqulunga said the Presidency had been alerted to a list which has been circulating on social media.

On the list ministers of higher education Blade Nzimande and home affairs Malusi Gigaba swap roles and Faith Muthambi takes over the public works portfolio.

Des Van Rooyen has apparently been earmarked to take over the Ministry of Economic Development while member of Parliament Pule Mabe will become deputy to Lindiwe Zulu, who is set to take over the Department of Mineral Resources Department, according to the list.

Water and sanitation's Nomvula Mokonyane, transport's Dipuo Peters and trade and industry's Rob Davies do not feature at all - although their departments were assigned to new minister on the list.

The list also claims to have been obtained from someone who is part of the dominant "premier league" faction in the ANC.

No mention is made of the finance portfolio; the general assumption being that the absence of a department on the list means the current minister will not be affected by the rumoured shake-up.

"The list is unknown to President Jacob Zuma. It is clearly the work of mischievous people who want to sow confusion and uncertainty," said the presidency.

It also said the President condemned the malicious dissemination of untruthful information by people who do not have the interests of the country at heart.
