Pretoria - A group of Mamelodi East residents began protesting after their shacks were demolished on Tuesday morning, Gauteng police said.
They barricaded Tsamaya Road with burning tyres and stones, disrupting traffic on Tuesday morning, Captain Johannes Maheso said.
“They were illegally occupying a piece of land, so the metro police and security personnel removed them. Police managed to remove those stones and control traffic in the morning, but they have started protesting again,” he said.
Police were monitoring the situation. No injuries had been reported and no arrests made.
