Durban - The driver of a bus was executed by a passenger while the fully-laden vehicle was in motion on the Watson Highway in Tongaat on Friday morning.
IPSS Medical Rescue spokesperson Paul Herbst said that the out-of-control bus had veered from the road.
"The driver of a public transport bus carrying passengers was shot this morning by one of its passengers," he said.
"The driver then lost control of the bus, before it went down a small embankment."
Herbst said that several passengers were injured in the smash and were treated at the scene by medics.
"Multiple patients were transported to hospital with minor injuries by IPSS and other services. The driver unfortunately was declared dead by our Advanced Life Support Paramedic due to his extensive injuries," he said.
Herbst added that police had cordoned off the scene and had started their investigation.
