Myths About Women's Bodybuilding

First of all, welcome to my blog. I will use this space to write about the news and trends as well as my opinion on health and fitness. Below is the first in series of articles I will present here:


Many view the world of bodybuilding and weight lifting as a man's sport. However, women have every right to join in this realm of fitness, honing their bodies into a work of art through sweat, pure grit, and determination. There are many myths and misunderstandings that keep many ladies from working their bodies to the max. It's time to set the record straight and clear up all of the misconceptions. 

Myth #1: Women Can't Train Like Men Do
There is the common belief floating around out there that women cannot possibly follow the same type of training regimen as a man in order to get similar results. Nothing could be further from the truth. Women can do the same type of workout routine that men do. If they set their minds on it, ladies can do anything they want. A woman's training should revolve around helping her to achieve her goals. If she's entering the world of weightlifting, she should be able to practice deadlifts and bench presses. If she wants to be a bodybuilder and get that sculpted physique, it's time to put in the same workout as a man. While it is true that women may not be able to handle the same weight limit as male counterparts, they can train equally hard using weights that are proportionate to their strength.

Myth#2: Women Only Work Out to Lose Weight
This is absolutely not true. Many women do have the ultimate goal to shed excess pounds, but others head to the gym for strength training. Some women are working on their stamina and resistance as they prepare for a marathon. Others love yoga because it provides them with balance. The important thing all women need to remember is to tailor their workout to suit their needs.

Myth#3: Women Can't Use the Same Products as Men
What a joke! Women can use the same protein powders, creatine, and other supplements that men do, although they should avoid anything designed for men with testosterone enhancement. It's important to do research and find out what is most effective.

Myth#4: Weightlifting is Too Dangerous for Women
If anyone is going to believe this logic, it's too dangerous for men as well. The fact of the matter is someone can get hurt doing any type of exercise if it isn't done properly. Women need to educate themselves, know their limits, and learn the proper form. Every now and then when I go to workout, at

Myth#5: Women Should Stick to the Treadmill
Women can workout on any type of equipment that they want. It all depends on the results they want.

Myth #6: All Women Want to be Lean
Every woman has a different goal in training. Some want to be lean, others want their abs to be defined, while some want bigger biceps. Training is personal.
