PICS: Toddler thrown through windscreen in crash

Durban - A 4-year-old boy is fighting for his life in a Durban hospital after being thrown through a windshield during impact in a head-on collision on the M27 in Umdloti on Tuesday.

IPSS Medical Rescue spokesperson Paul Herbst said medics had rushed to the scene of the crash.

"Paramedics found that a toddler, seated on his mother's lap in the back seat, was ejected through the front windshield," he said.

"The toddler sustained severe head injuries and required advanced life support intervention.

"Due to his critical condition the toddler was flown for specialised care at a hospital in Durban," Herbst added.

He said the boy's parents were also seriously injured.
