A PRAYER breakfast was held by the ACDP on Freedom Day with local pastors and Christian leaders joining together to pray for the challenges being experienced in KwaDukuza.
According to local ACDP councillor Pastor Nel Sewraj, the event was organised after they recognised the turbulent times endured by the KwaDukuza community in recent months.
“These include the severe drought and consequent water crisis, violent and destructive protests in many places, the racial tension in the community, corruption in local government, land-grabbing, and the recent taxi killings locally.
“These problems are compounded by financial pressures on residents, increase of crime, prostitution, family breakdowns and drug syndicates operating in the area. In light of this bleak scenario, the ACDP decided to arrange a prayer breakfast for pastors and Christian leaders to spiritually counter this onslaught using the power of prayer and intercession.”
A number of pastors joined together to pray for different challenges facing our community.
Speaking to the pastors Sewraj stated: “All hope is not lost for KwaDukuza. God has entrusted the true authority over the city to you, his watchman in the city. You have power to turn the spiritual tide in our region. You have the power to arrest the decay in the region and secure a better future for KwaDukuza.
“After various incidents of unrest in Glenhills, Isithebe and other areas, the ACDP sought to host a prayer to counter these negative elements in our society. We recognise that politics itself is insufficient to arrest the decay of society. The prayer breakfast was a great success and good work was accomplished in the spirit. We appreciate the support of local pastors and churches in this endeavour.”
