Hundreds of people were injured on Thursday evening when two trains collided at the Van Riebeeck Park Train Station in Kempton Park.
ER24 spokesperson Russel Meiring said that while around 150 people were injured, no fatalities were recorded and no patients were in a critical condition.
He said that the injuries ranged from minor to serious and that paramedics were still on the scene treating patients and transporting them to nearby hospitals.
Arrive Alive, in a tweet, put the figure of injured people at over 200.
However, Ekurhuleni EMS spokesperson, William Ntladi told News24 that they were busy with a debriefing session to collate the number of actual people injured as several emergency services were on scene treating patients.
He also confirmed that there were no fatalities.
The cause of the accident is still unknown at this stage.
