Sweet success as thousands of rands of stolen chocolate discovered

Johannesburg  Two people were arrested after the Johannesburg Metro Police Department (JMPD) discovered thousands of rands worth of stolen chocolate bars in parts of the city, said spokesperson, Chief Superintendent Wayne Minnaar.

The officers discovered the large quantities of chocolate at a house in Lenasia on Saturday night.

"The chocolates were taken from a truck belonging to Nestlé," Minnaar said.

The truck was hijacked in Kempton Park on Thursday, and was found stripped of its goods and abandoned outside Killarney on Friday.

One person was arrested in Lenasia, and he led police to a warehouse in Kew, where a second person was arrested. There, police found more chocolates and cans of Red Bull.

They also discovered a machine being used change expiry dates on the products.

Both people were expected to appear in court on Monday.
