This is twar: Malema, Mbalula face off in #GuptaGate

Cape Town – As allegations continue to surface regarding top government jobs being offered by South Africa’s most infamous family, EFF leader Julius Malema has accused Sports Minister Fikile Mbalula of accepting his portfolio when offered it by the Guptas.

The two former friends found themselves in an open feud, with Malema claiming that the Guptas offered the sports and recreation ministry post to Mbalula, who, “unlike [Mcebisi] Jonas accepted”.

But Mbalula snapped back: “I am not accountable to you, and your party please get it right.”

Malema, who succeeded Mbalula as ANC Youth League president, then told him that he is “accountable to South Africans and should “stop being a coward”.

“You love a position more than the country, history will judge you,” the EFF leader warned Mbalula.

The twar erupted as Deputy Finance Minister Mcebisi Jonas came out on Wednesday saying he had been offered the finance minister post by the Guptas when Nhlanhla Nene had been removed.

"I rejected this out of hand. The basis of my rejection of their offer is that it makes a mockery of our hard earned democracy, the trust of our people and no one apart from the President of the Republic appoints ministers," Jonas said in a statement.

President Jacob Zuma, whose family has close business ties with the Guptas, will on Thursday take the hot seat in Parliament during a Q&A session.
