HIV is not a death sentence. The South African Government has done a lot to ensure that people living with HIV & AIDS live a healthier and longer life.

  • Anti-Retroviral Therapy is available free of charge, and can prolong your life if you adhere to the treatment schedule.
  • People who are diagnosed with HIV for the first time are counselled and immediately provided with their medication under the Universal Test and Treat initiative.
  • The risk and rate of Mother-To-Child Transmission of HIV has been decreased significantly as HIV-positive women are now giving birth to children with HIV negative babies;
  • In KwaZulu-Natal alone, 1.3 Million people receive antiretroviral treatment (ARVs) which suppresses the virus and prevents it from spreading in the body.

If you don't know your status, get tested today! The sooner you get tested, the quicker you can access treatment and information to take care of yourself.
