  • Over the last decade, infamous dating website AshleyMadison.com has become world-renowned for offering social networking services to individuals in search of a quick, anonymous affair. It currently hosts 20 million users worldwide, of which 163 000 are South Africans. (Shutterstock)
  • And of those South Africans, the majority (27% which is approximately 43 631 members) are based in Gauteng. This is the second year the province has topped the site's list for most users. Founder and CEO of the Canada-based site Noel Biderman, said he wasn't surprised, citing the fast-paced lifestyle as one of the reasons the province features so strongly. (Shutterstock)
  • KwaZulu-Natal ranks second with 19% (Approximately 30 274 members) (Shutterstock)
  • Western Cape is third with 13% (Approximately 20 419 members) (Shutterstock)
  • The Eastern Cape comes in at a close fourth position with 11% of users registered on the site. (Shutterstock)
  • Only 9% of users are from Limpopo. (Shutterstock)
  • While 8% call Mpumalanga home. (Shutterstock)
  • Even though North West is basically on Gauteng's doorstep, they have managed to reign it in with only 6% user representation on the site. (Shutterstock)
  • The Orange Free State has the second lowest membership, with only 5%. (Shutterstock)
  • And if you're married, it seems like the Northern Cape is the best place to live, as only 2% of users are from here. (Shutterstock)
