Pakistani education activist and Nobel Peace Prize winner, Malala Yousafzai became the youngest person to ever receive honorary Canadian citizenship.

The 19-year old is the sixth person to receive the symbolic title.

In 2014, she became the youngest recipient to win the Nobel peace prize at the age of 17. She was also named the UN Messenger of peace, the highest honour awarded by the United Nations, for her tireless activism towards girls' rights to education globally.

Yousafzai came to prominence after she was shot in the head for her activism efforts against the Taliban in Pakistan.
