New York - A new study says many Americans still don't find the content they see online as totally reliable.

A report this week from the University of Southern California's Centre for the Digital Future says 15% of internet users find little credibility in online content, even though three-quarters of users find the web an important source of information.

The centre has surveyed more than 2 000 US households each year since 1999. The latest report is a look back at the past decade of Americans' internet use.

Which goes to show the Americans will fairly much believe anything, the figure should be in the 80 to 90% area. Anyone with even a slight possibility of registering an IQ will be aware that anything on the web must by necessity be taken with a pinch of salt until cross referenced and verified against other sources on and off the net if necessary.

Who in their right mind would believe everything on the net. Who knows that 20 something lady you may chat to every now and again actually is a 20 something lady. It may be a 92 year old obese man who is so large that he cannot leave his bedroom?
