Complaint to be filed over breast implants

Paris - An official with France's national health insurance agency says it will file a criminal complaint after authorities agreed to pay women for the removal of tens of thousands of potentially faulty breast implants.

The official said on Saturday that the complaint for deception and fraud will be filed in the coming days. It will not name specific people or the company behind the implants, though specific targets could be added later.

The official spoke on condition of anonymity, citing policy.

Amid calls that the implants' manufacturer, Poly Implant Prothese, be held responsible, international police agency Interpol clarified that its "red notice" for company director Jean-Claude Mas was unrelated to the scandal.
