Otsego - The Guinness World Records 2013 book published on Thursday recognises Zeus, a Great Dane from the US state of Michigan, as the world's Tallest Dog.

The 3-year-old measures 1.1m from foot to shoulder.

Standing on his hind legs, Zeus stretches to 2.23m and towers over his owner, Denise Doorlag. Zeus is just 2.54cm taller than the previous record-holder, Giant George.

Zeus weighs 70kg and eats a 14kg bag of food every two weeks.

Doorlag says she had to get a van to be able to transport Zeus.

'The 3-year-old measures 1.1m from foot to shoulder. It weighs 70kg' well it shows dogs are not big animals after all.
