Cape Town – LG will not be bringing the newly announced Nexus 4 smartphone to South Africa, a Virgin Mobile spokesperson told MyBroadband.

The Nexus 4 is the latest smartphone in Google’s Nexus range of Android devices, for which the search giant teamed up with Korean electronics maker, LG.

It is understood that LG decided against bringing in the Nexus 4 because they don’t think it would sell well in the country.

Instead it is believed that the company will be focussing on a device with very similar specifications to the Nexus 4, the LG Optimus G, which LG has already said would launch in South Africa during February 2013.
