Samsung aims to steal iPhone spotlight

Seoul - Samsung Electronics plans to show what it says is a new mobile device in late August, trying to stay in the consumer spotlight ahead of Apple's expected release of the latest iPhone in September.

Analysts said the device is likely an update of the Galaxy Note, which has a screen bigger than smartphones but smaller than tablet computers and can be used with a stylus pen.

Samsung said on Friday the device will be unveiled on 29 August in Berlin, two days before Europe's biggest consumer electronics show.

Samsung and Apple are facing off in a US court over smartphone and tablet intellectual property. The product launches will be their first following the trial.

Samsung said it sold seven million of the first generation Galaxy Note between October and May.

Samsung stole the concept so it's not surprising they're trying to steal the limelight as well. Viva Apple Viva!

LOL at all the thumbs down! Never realised so many people have never had the opportunity to use an Apple product. Shame, enlighten yourselves and learn what quality is.

Irene, you got a thumbs down not because of Apple - people do not like comments that are facile, biased or silly. This post is written from my iPad.

Viva Samsung viva. I'm a firm supporter of Samsung and i hope the cellphone they are reviling is the one that will run the windows phone 8. And how can Apple go to Samsung to manufacture some components for their devices while they are suing them? Things they do for publicity

If you do some research you will see that Apple are now buying their primary parts from LG, Sharp and from Taiwan and no longer from Samsung. Samsung has shot themselves in the foot. Anyway, if you have used Apple and Samsung products you will know that the quality of Apple products are in a different universe from Samsung. Samsung = cheap tupperware plastic.

I'm rather gonna wait 6 months for the iPhone20, or should I wait a year for the iPhone60? Hmmmm... Choices choices.
