Mandela: SA needs good leaders

Now as much as ever, South Africa needs disciplined leaders, Nelson Mandela has said at birthday celebration in Pretoria.

Johannesburg - The Post Office released a limited number of stamps countrywide on Tuesday in celebration Nelson Mandela's 90th birthday.

"We believe the stamps are much more than pieces of paper that show postage has been paid. Our stamps are small ambassadors that carry images of our country to destinations all over the world," said spokesperson Vuyo Mahlati.

The stamps are available in denominations for both domestic and small international letters.

The domestic stamp costs R2 05 (photo taken by Halden Krog) while the international stamp for small letters (with artworks by Cyril Coetzee) costs R4 90.

She said they had the privilege of documenting many aspects of Madiba's life from when he was inaugurated president.
