2020 is creeping up real fast, which means it’s the perfect time to look back at some of the joyful celebrations, unforgettable moments and history-making firsts of 2019.

1. Prince George turns six

To commemorate Prince George’s birthday on 22 July, Kensington Palace released this adorable photo of His Royal Highness sporting an official England national soccer team jersey. The snap was taken in their garden by his mom, Princess Kate, PEOPLE reports.

2. Baby Archie goes to South Africa

Baby Archie joined his parents, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, on their September tour to South Africa.  The tiny tot made his first special appearance on the trip for a meeting with Archbishop Desmond Tutu.

3. Princess Charlotte sticks out tongue at crowd

Princess Charlotte playfully sticks her tongue out as she and her mom, the Duchess of Cambridge, attend the King’s Cup regatta in England.

4. The springboks win the Rugby World Cup

South Africa stuns England to win their third Rugby World Cup under the captaincy of Siya Kolisi – the first black man to captain the team, CNN reports.

5. Zozibini Tunzi crowned Miss Universe

South Africa was in celebration mode once again after Miss South Africa, Zozibini Tunzi, won the Miss Universe title. Zozi is the third South African to win the Miss Universe crown.

6. Greta Thunberg’s impassioned speech at the UN

Accusing world leaders of stealing her childhood by their inaction on climate change, the 16-year-old climate activist gave an emotional speech at the UN where she appealed to world leaders to stop the effects of climate change, TIME reports.

7. Lady Gaga reacts to winning an Academy Award

Mark Ronson, Lady Gaga and Anthony Rossomando react after winning the Academy Award for best original song. They won for the song, “Shallow”, which Gaga performed with Bradley Cooper in the film, A Star is Born.
