Just weeks after losing his job due to the coronavirus pandemic, this dad hit one of the biggest jackpots in the lottery.

The unnamed man from Adelaide, Australia, was left devastated after he was retrenched from his job because of the coronavirus crisis.

But his life took yet another dramatic turn when he found out he’d won a whopping A$4,8 million (about R58 million) in the local lottery during the Easter Weekend, Mirror reports.

The father-of-one wants to remain anonymous after winning the first division of a lottery category known as “Set For Life”, which means he’ll receive monthly payments of A$20 000 (about R240 000) for the next 20 years.

The man who’s in his 20s described his recent win as a “complete relief” especially after losing his job during this critical time, according to the Daily Mail.

“I recently lost my job because of Covid-19, and so this just gives me complete relief,” the jackpot winner said. “I’ve been so stressed lately, but now I’m so happy.”

The man, who’s been struggling to sleep at night because of the excitement, revealed that he and his wife were in such disbelief that he had to recheck his online account several times to make sure it was all real.

“I woke up my wife to tell her and she screamed. It’s unbelievable. I checked my online account so many times to see if it was real,” he said.

Although the man hasn’t yet decided how he wants to spend his winnings, his wife has already started making luxurious plans, Metro reports.

“My wife has already made many, many plans,” the man said.

“She wants to do everything, a new car, holidays, a new house, not just any house but our dream house. Oh and a shopping spree, of course.”
