A man suspected of killing another because he suspected him to be a thief was arrested in Verulam, KwaZulu-Natal on Friday afternoon.

KZN SAPS have confirmed to Move! that the 31-year-old suspect was arrested on 21 June for allegedly setting another 32-year-old man alight.

The police couldn’t divulge more details with regards to the incident and Colonel Thembeka Mbele said that an investigation underway.

“A case of murder is being investigated by Verulam SAPS,” she said.

According to ECR news the victim was set alight because he was accused of having stolen a grass cutter. His burns were given medical attention, however, he died on Friday.

  4. Locktach also advises that you have an emergency plan in place. These include having a dedicated safe room and working out an in case-of-emergency plan and safety checklist with your family.
  5. South African Police Services recommends you ensure that tools such as axes, spades, picks, ladders, etc that can be used in an attack, are locked away when you do not use them.
