Kristina Plenkina (3) from Kirov in Russia was left to fend for herself for seven days while her mom was out on a week-long party spree.

It’s believed the only food items her mother, Maria (21), left for her were a piece of chicken, some yoghurt and a few sausages. Maria then deserted her daughter while she went dancing and drinking with friends.

Maria apparently also cut off the water supply to her flat while she was away and when Kristina’s food ran out, the little girl started eating washing powder, The Mirror reports.

The incident took place around Valentine’s Day last year. Maria left her daughter on 13 February in their untidy flat and only returned on 20 February.

But it was Maria’s mother, Irina (47), who found Kristina’s half-naked body in the filthy flat before Maria returned. Irina says she was delivering a birthday gift to Kristina who’d turned three that day but instead she had to call an ambulance when she came across her granddaughter’s body.

A distraught Irina, who was unaware that her granddaughter had been left alone in the flat, says she would’ve gladly cared for the little girl if Maria had asked her to. She added that Maria lied to her as they were in touch on social media every day and she told her mom that both she and Kristina were doing well, according to the Daily Mail.

Maria reportedly also deceived her friends. Anastasia Kurpina, who she was staying with while she left her daughter unattended and starving, says she was led to believe Kristina was staying with a friend of Maria’s.

Maria has been charged with murder and pleaded guilty in court. She added that it was never her intention to kill Kristina.

She cried during one of her court appearances, saying, “I never wanted her to die.”

Maria was also sent for a psychiatric evaluation but psychiatrists found her of sound mind and fully aware of her actions. If found guilty, she could be sentenced to between eight and 20 years in jail for the death of her daughter.
