Turning tragedy into takings.

A teenage boy in the UK has capitalised on the coronavirus hysteria by charging fellow students 50p (around R10) for a pump of hand sanitiser.

Oliver Cooper (13) earned himself nearly £9 (R185) from his sanitiser dealings before he was suspended for the day, Mail Online reports.

The teen attends Dixons Unity Academy in Leeds, where he reportedly now faces a “day in isolation” and two hours of detention for breaking school rules though the school denies the incident happened or that Oliver was suspended over it, according to the BBC.

According to Metro, Oliver bought a tube of hand sanitiser after hearing about the coronavirus pandemic on the radio.

After initially offering squirts to his friends for free, they suggested he start a playground business venture by selling squirts to other kids.

But he found himself in some trouble when he asked a teacher whether she wanted some.

The boy’s mom, Jenny Tompkins (32), exposed the situation in a rant on Facebook about what her son had done, according to The Sun.

“The little turd has just been expelled from school for the day after being caught charging students 50p a squirt for hand sanitiser to protect themselves from the bloody coronavirus!” she wrote.

“Very hard to discipline this behaviour when his dad phones him from work to call him a f**king legend.”

The mom of seven definitely doesn’t consider his business dealings an excusable offense.

“I told him off so that when we go into school I can tell his head of year that I’ve told him it’s wrong,” she said.

Looks like it’s a no-go for any further coronavirus protection for this young man then.
