Police are still investigating the family tragedy in which Sandra Schwartz (39) and her three children – Shereé (19), LeeAnn (16) and Simeon (10) – were shot dead last month in their home in Brakpan, on Gauteng’s East Rand.Sandra’s husband, Johan (41), had allegedly been at work at the time of the murders. At first it was suspected that Sandra had killed her children and then turned the gun on herself. But Brakpan police spokesperson Captain Pearl van Staad says the investigation has been referred to the provincial police.A family member has provided YOU with shockingly graphic pictures of the horrific murder scene. The four victims’ bodies were found in the family home on Modder Street, in Sallies Village, Brakpan. The victims’ loved ones are still struggling with many unanswered questions and refuse to accept that Sandra was capable of such a deed. Instead, they believe there had been deep-seated problems in the household, and that the shambles of the home’s interior is evidence that all was far from well. The mess inside the house is clear in the pictures. The floor is littered with clothing, toys and Simeon’s toy dinosaurs. The blood stains on the two mattresses on the lounge floor bear silent witness to the murders. “Sandra and Simeon were lying on one mattress. Both had been shot in the head,” says the family member, who wishes to remain anonymous. She says Shereé, who’d been shot in the stomach, was found lying on the other mattress. “Lee-Ann had been sitting on the couch and was shot from under the jaw.”There’s blood spatter next to the black leather couch where Lee-Ann was apparently shot. Another picture shows Johan and Sandra’s bedroom. On the floor at the foot of the bed is a large hole where a fire allegedly started. “The person [murderer] apparently tried setting the house alight. It’s alleged the suspects tried burning the bodies but that area is untouched [by fire].”A fire was also started in Simeon’s room, the family member says.
