Washing your hands is one of the top tips from health officials to help decrease the transmission of gems.

In most cases you’re always in a rush and often don’t pay attention to how you wash your hands. What actually seems like a simple task can easily transfer the coronavirus, if not done properly.

Globally, more than 80,000 people in nearly 50 countries have been infected. Nearly 2,800 have died, the vast majority in China's Hubei province.

The first case of the coronavirus in sub-Saharan Africa has recently been confirmed in Nigeria, while, South Africa’s health ministry has announced that two nationals aboard a cruise ship in Japan have tested positive for the virus.

Symptoms of the virus can show up between 2 to 14 days after exposure.

These are the symptoms one can look out for:

  • Fever
  • Cough
  • Shortness of breath

Infections range from mild to serious and the virus can turn deadly if it leads to pneumonia, respiratory failure, or septic shock. Those most at risk of death are the elderly and people with weakened immune systems.
