An Irish defence force veteran didn’t want his friends and family to cry at his funeral, so he recorded a hilarious voice note that made them laugh in his memory.

When Shay Bradley’s coffin went down at the gravesite, his loved ones were stunned to hear his voice beyond the grave. In the recording, Shay is heard saying, “Hello, hello, let me out,” as he knocks on something that’s meant to sound like the inside of the coffin.

“Let me out, I’m f***ing dying in here, where the f**k am I? I know you can hear me, I’m in the box,” he continues. The recording ends with Shay singing, “Hello, again, I just called to say goodbye,” to which is loved ones laughed and cried at the same time.

According to the Daily Mail, Shay died on 8 October after battling a long illness.

Shay's daughter, Andrea, explained that the message was recorded before Shay passed away and was put out via a speaker on the ground. She said on Twitter, “He would love to know how many people he made laugh!!! He was an amazing character.”
