A woman was left distressed after her baby was born a week early in a hospital lift.

Lin Tian from China arrived at the local hospital just in the nick of time for the birth of her son.

The 29-year-old was rushed to hospital by her husband after her water broke at 39 weeks into her pregnancy.

“I started feeling abdominal pain at just after 6am. I told my husband the baby’s coming,” she recalled of the moment.

“It hurt so much. I told my husband to call an ambulance.”

Luckily the couple arrived at the hospital just in time where they were met at the entrance of the hospital by obstetrician Dr Dongxia Zhang.

“When we entered the lift I noticed the child’s head was already out. After we removed [the mom’s] trousers, I saw the child’s face was purple and there was no breathing,” the doctor recalled.

“There was a lot of blood too. I delivered her and wrapped him in a blanket to keep him warm. A few minutes later and she may have suffocated to death.”

Lin’s baby girl is healthy and in a stable condition.
