DIE ATKV-tak van Amanzimtoti het verlede Saterdag ‘n baie suksesvolle geskiedenistoer aangebied met die voorsitter, Riaan Odendaal, as toerleier.

Altesaam 26 toerlede was in die groep, wat ook vakansiegangers van Delmas en Volksrust ingesluit het. Die groep het met twee taxis gereis en verskeie plekke van geskiedkundige belang besoek.

Die klip waarop koning Shaka gesit het toe hy die “soetwater” gedrink het en Amanzimtoti sy naam gegee het, was eerste op die lys. Daarna is Dick King se tog gevolg deur die dorp, asook die konsentrasiekamp gedenkterrein by Merebank waar meer as 9 000 vrouens en kinders aangehou was gedurende die Anglo-Boere-oorlog vanaf 1901 tot Desember 1902.

Die Slag van Congella op 24 Mei 1842 is weer herleef, asook die monument in Maydon Wharf rylaan waar die slag plaasgevind het - destyds was die strand daar. Die toer is afgeskluit by die Ou Fort en Kwa Muhle Museum in die stad. - Verskaf
