ABOUT 50 schools took part in the first round of the Horizon Maths Challenge and 5 375 children wrote the paper, of these 191 were Athlone Park Primary pupils.

A total of 39 schools participated in the second round with 1 100 children writing the paper.

A total of 17 Athlone Park pupils wrote the exam and achieved outstanding results.

In Grade 7, Samir Raghunanan placed 23rd, Nobantu Ngidi placed 35th, Unathi Ngidi placed 43rd, Tiago Peres placed 63rd, Shaheen Govender placed 104th, Tamika Baldeo placed 118th, Shriya Behara placed 194th and Jadon Appalasamy placed 203rd.

In Grade 6, Aron Michael Ramiah placed 122nd
