IN light of the recent rescue undertaken by Bobbi Bear, the organisation thanks the community for their response when they rescued the children, and appeals to the community to continue supporting them.

“Bobbi Bear is a non-profit organisation. Four years ago we were given a house from Holland. The donation was just the house, in other words the ‘shell’. We are extremely thankful for our new home, however we do not receive any donations or sponsorships from them for the day-to-day running and the maintenance of the house or towards the running of our organisation such as petrol, food and water and lights. “Unfortunately, since taking ownership of the house, there has been a perception in our community that we are a wealthy organisation and do not need the community’s support,” said Eureka Olivier.

The organisation’s mandate is to be committed and dedicated to working with and assisting sexually abused, raped, abused or any child in a “risk” situation in the area.

Operation Bobbi Bear’s success rate with prosecution of the perpetrators and providing safe homes for the abused children is testament to the organisationand#039;s training programmes, both with individuals, the community and in collaboration with the criminal justice system.

Olivier said the organisation needs everything one would need to run a household with small children, while they await SAPS, Social Welfare and placement, which include food, clothing, shoes, toys, nappies and baby milk.

Because many of the children are sexually abused, the organisation also needs donations towards “rape bags” which includes sanitary pads, little books and pens for children to draw in, medical gloves and a small snack to eat and a juice.
