Body found drifting in river

ON 11 May at about 4pm, Amanzimtoti SAPS members attended to a complaint regarding a body that was found drifting in Umbogintwini­ River, Inyathi Road, Athlone­ Park.

“The body of an Indian male was recovered from the river by the Search and Rescue Team. The deceased was identified by his next of kin as that of Dysmand Harbit, 55. Harbit went missing on 2 May,” said Captain Charlene van der Spuy.

According to Van der Spuy, a missing persons report was filed by the next of kin on the day the deceased went missing.

“He was found clothed in the same attire as the day he went missing. The cause of death is unknown. A case of inquest was opened for further investigation,” Van Der Spuy said. - Supplied.
