THE “Comrades ache and pains” prize giving was held on Saturday at the Toti Athletics clubhouse.

All our Comrades runners, family and friends had a great day. A big thank you to Belinda and Chris Stange for organising a successful day.

Comrades prize winners: Toti Athletics first male - J. Shishani, second male - H. Sidane, third male - C. Stange, first vet home - C. Stange. First female home - K. Sobrino, second female - C. Carr, third female - J. Yelseth, first female vet - K. Sobrino.

The club entered 62 athletes for the Comrades, with 17 athletes not making it to the finish. This year there was also no silver medals for Amanzimtoti AC.

Coach Cecil Clarke will be introducing the Comrades and Two Oceans programme in October to build athletes to qualify in January and February 2016 for a marathon.

With Comrades a thing of the past athletes must now not go into hibernation with the dark and cold mornings. They have a great opportunity to prepare for the 10km and 21km club champs and work on improving speed work after the mileage needed for Comrades. Athletes can make use of the cross-country leagues and trail runs offered at the moment.
