ELKE dorp het daardie één bakker. Elkeen van ons beweer dat hy al die stroperigste, krakerigste en lekkerste koeksister geëet het. Binnekort sal al dié twyfel en bespiegeling­ iets van die verlede wees, want Solidariteit Helpende Hand het die soektog na Suid-Afrika se lekkerste koeksister afgeskop.

Dié organisasie, met meer as 120 takke, het vandeesweek die kompetisie genaamd Stoofstories: Dié Koeksister Kompetisie, van stapel gestuur en nooi nou die bobaasbakkers van regoor die land uit om vir dié kompetisie in te skryf.

Volgens Anél du Preez, projekbestuurder van Helpende Hand, is die doel van hierdie projek om nie net die lekkerste koeksister te bekroon nie, maar om ook die wenresep as deel van ’n werkskeppingsprojek te benut waarby die bakker en behoeftiges sal baat.

“Koeksisters vorm ’n belangrike deel van ons Suid-Afrikaanse kultuur en is as’t ware met ons harte vervleg. As mens dink aan eg Suid-Afrikaanse kookkuns is koeksisters beslis een van die eerste dinge waaraan jy dink. Watter beter manier om dan die tradisie te vier as met hierdie kompetisie? Daarom soek ons nou na die koeksister wat jou tong verras en die tong laat klap van lekkerte,” verduidelik Du Preez.

Stoofstories is ook op soek na die stories agter die koeksister en verhale, staaltjies en selfs gerugte oor koeksisters word ingewag. “Daar is talle stories oor koeksisters – die manier waarop die geheime resep behoue gebly het, hoe die resep die Groot Trek oorleef het, of hoe die resep ontdek is – en dié stories moet vertel word,” sê Du Preez.

Inskrywings vir die kompetisie sluit op 31 Mei waarna steeks-uitdunrondtes regoor Suid-Afrika gehou sal word. Die finaal sal in September in Pretoria aangebied word. Vir meer inligting oor die kompetisie, reëls en om in te skryf, besoek www.stoofstories.co.za
