Nine injured in taxi accident

2015-07-22 06:00

NINE people were injured, three seriously, after a taxi overturned on the N2 south opposite Kingsway Hospital on Sunday 12 July at around 8am.

Netcare 911 paramedics were at their base when they heard the noise of the vehicle tumbling down the highway, and screams from the passengers. When the paramedics arrived at the scene they found accident debris obstructing the highway while the wreckage had come to rest in the centre median, the injured spread onto the grass after some had been ejected.

After triaging the injured, it was found that three people had sustained serious injuries while seven escaped with minor injuries.

Medics stabilised the injured before transporting them to Prince Mshiyeni Hospital.

Exact detail to the cause of the accident and preceding events will remain a subject for police investigation and comment. - Netcare 911
