Plane crash update

THE latest information released regarding last week’s Tuesday’s plane crash determined that both victims were registered pilots.

“The pilots booked for a normal practice flight at 12.30pm from the Aviation Centre in Durban. They took flight at 12.45pm and crashed at 12.56pm. Their GFA general flying area was between the Moss Kolnik bridge, the Umkomaas River, inside of the N2 and via Umfume,” Captain Charlene van der Spuy reported.

“It was determined both were registered pilots, one was Indian, 22 years of age and one Congolese, also 22 years old. Both bodies were burnt beyond recognition and could not be identified. A post-mortem investigation was done on Friday at Gale Street Mortuary. DNA samples were collected and taken to Pretoria yesterday for analysis to put a name to each body and results is are being awaited.”
