ON 18 June at about 12.20pm a woman was robbed of her handbag.

“The complainant was walking along near the corner of Moss Kolnik and Arbour roads when she was approached by an unknown African male.

“He threatened her with a knife and demanded she hand over her handbag and grabbed it off her shoulder,” said Captain Charlene van der Spuy.

The suspect then fled and ran into the bushes. The woman screamed which alerted nearby security who contacted the police.

“The complainant could give a good description of her assailant.

“With the help of members of SAPS, Metro Police, ET Security and eThekwini security, who cordoned off the area between the road and the railway, the suspect was arrested and the complainant’s property recovered,” Van der Spuy said.

A case of common robbery was opened and is being investigated by Amanzimtoti detectives.
