“It is alleged that on the above-mentioned date and time, the victim, a white female, Cora Van Tonder aged 38, was waiting for her lift from fellow colleagues of GDH Security Athlone Park, when she was approached by two unknown black males. The one grabbed her from behind and produced a knife. She was hit on the back of her head by an unknown object and as a result suffered an epileptic attack,” said Captain Charlene van der Spuy.

The victim was treated and stabilised by Netcare paramedics and thereafter taken to hospital for observation. The victim has a medical history of epilepsy and was released from hospital later the same day.

“Her statement could not be obtained as she was still in shock after the attack and needed further medical attention,” said Captain Van der Spuy.
