CVF Physiotherapy is celebrating their 10th birthday this year. The company, owned by Caryn von Fintel (BSc Physiotherapy Wits), is home to three qualified physiotherapists.”We are a dynamic, patient orientated practice with a focus on neuromusculoskeletal injuries, sports injuries and orthopaedic rehabilitation. We are a predominantly out- patient practice, but offer home visits and treatment at Kingsway Hospital and ProCare Subacute Hospital on request. “I have a special interest in women’s health especially urinary incontinence, mastectomy and post-mastectomy rehabilitation,” said Von Fintel. The physiotherapists at CVF Physiotherapy have done extensive post-graduate courses to keep up to date with the latest research and to better their knowledge and skills. They each have unique skills and different fields of interest, which compliments each other well. Karen Roux (BSc Physiotherapy Stellenbosch) has a special interest in treating neck and back pain as well as headaches originating from the neck. She also works for Amanzimtoti Rugby Club. Gerda Mulders (B Physiotherapy Pretoria) has a special interest in running-related injuries and orthopaedic rehabilitation.CVF Physiotherapy has been expanding and will be moving to new premises in Amanzimtoti in the near future. They are also planning to offer hydrotherapy. They believe knowledge is power and that prevention is better than cure. They often give lectures and talks on a multitude of topics e.g. talking at schools about back care or at a company about ergonomics and kinetic handling. They also give back to the community by sponsoring Amanzimtoti Rugby, Amanzimtoti Cricket, Amanzimtoti Hockey and Amanzimtoti Soccer clubs.
